The MTA State Shoot is well underway in Alexandria. Tuesday was the youth day, and a solid contingent of young shooters from Del-Tone made the trip up to shoot in the rain.
Pulling exclusively from the ranks of young shooters who either work at, or who’s high school team shoots at Del-Tone, we fielded the best Jr. squad we could muster. In turned out that Sauk Rapid’s Justin Scheeler, Bradley Bible from Becker, Eli Kobienia of Foley, Jack Ellering from Melrose, and Upsala’s Silas Arvig were up to the task, breaking 480 x 500 targets in a driving rain, and taking the 2021 Jr. MTA & AIM championship team trophies.
Later in the afternoon that squad competed as individuals in the Jr. handicap competition, where Silas Arvig broke 99 x 100 targets from the 20 yard line to win the MTA & AIM Jr. handicap championship, and Eli Kobienia broke 95 x 100 from the 20 yard line to take 3rd place in MTA and 2nd in AIM.
But far from the only youth there from Del-Tone that day, Parker Otkin, Bennett Kiffmeyer, Adam Kobienia, and Myra Arvig got squadded up for singles competition with Kassandra Schoen, who currently attends Alabama State. Being Schoen is a few years older than the rest of the squad, they all got bumped up into the Jr. Gold division, where they were still able to shoot good, and take the runner up team trophy.
Also shooting that day was Delayna Rife, who has really come on strong this year. She took home medals for winning high lady sub Jr. in singles, as well as 3rd place sub Jr. in handicap. All in all it was one heck of a wet, fun day, with outstanding shooting and genuine sportsmanship on display.
